Creating a meme

Today I learned that creating a meme (pronounced meem) has rules… A LOT OF RULES. A meme acts as a vessel to carry out a cultural idea. Who would have ever thought that turning a picture into something funny needed to be so calculated?

During our lab time in class we created a meme. The first thing that I learned was there is only one font that is acceptable, impact. Impact is nice and bold, it also must be written in all CAPS. This process of visual semiotics is a huge subculture for communication.

I created the one below based on the current controversy of the Oscars.

But what do I know?
